To make changes online

If your state has online voter registration, use that to make changes. If your state keeps track of political party preference, you will be able to change that too.
1

Go to Vote.gov

This is an official U.S. government website for all-things registration.

2

Select your State

Many States have different processes, so be sure to gather information based off the State you live and vote in.

3

Select “Start your online registration…”

This option might not be given depending on your State. If it's not available, you may need to make changes by mail.

4

Keep your identification information handy

Be ready to provide your state driver’s license or state ID number and your social security number.

To make changes by mail

You can make changes using the National Mail Voter Registration Form.
1

Download the form

Download the form in the description above. All states except New Hampshire, Wyoming, and North Dakota will accept it. If you need the form mailed to you, contact your state or local election office.

2

Fill in your information

Complete the form on screen and print it out, or print it out and complete by hand. Then, sign it.

3

Mail it

Mail it to the address provided for your location. Don’t forget to add postage.
